The Ganden Sumtseling Monastery (Songzanlin Monastery) is located near Shangri-La, on the Tibetan plateau in China’s south-west Yunnan province. Shortly after its opening my family and I stayed at the Rosewood Beijing, the city’s newest luxury urban hotel.
